Feeding the Homeless at the ChattFoundation

"Then the King will say to those at his right hand ... 'for I was hungry and you gave me food' ... Then the rightous will answer Him 'Lord when did we see you hungry and feed you?' ... and the King will answer them 'Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these brethren you did it to me'" Mt 25:31

At the Community Kitchen of the ChattFoundation every Tuesday for 90 minutes, we gather not just to feed the body, but to nourish the soul. As we serve dinner to the homeless, we encounter more than the outward signs of hunger and poverty; we witness the deep spiritual hunger that often accompanies their physical deprivation. Many are held captive by demons—whether addiction, despair, or trauma—that weigh heavily on their hearts and minds. Yet, as we offer them a warm meal, we are reminded that each person, no matter their circumstances, is a child of God, worthy of love, dignity, and compassion.

Looking beyond their outer struggles, we strive to be instruments of God’s grace, offering not just food, but a glimpse of hope, healing, and redemption. Through this humble act of service, we are called to see Christ in every face, offering a little light in the darkness, and praying that our presence may be a reminder that God’s love never abandons anyone, no matter how lost they may seem.

The ChattFoundation has been serving the homeless and most vulnerable of our community for over 40 years. Started as the Chattanooga Community Kitchen they have fed hundereds of thousands of the hungry and over time they have added numerous other services.
